1 July 2001: And yes, another wonderful time has been had at the Royal Hotel over the past few weeks. Thanks to all the staff and the Ashleys. Always keep the hotel in the family (or sell it to me)! Lots of Love Peter Dedman (Milton Villas, UK). ps. Don't let Meli retire.

30 April 2001: My 2nd visit here, having been here 6 yrs ago. I'm very pleased to say nothing has changed except for the welcome addition of the pool! A wonderful time capsule of a hotel- very Somerset Maugham! Thanks to the staff, all of whom have been nice. Oh, my snooker hasn't improved! As a single, i much appreciate the great room rate. Nothing worse than paying hefty single supplements like you do in most places. I am a professional travel writer and hotel inspector, and as such tend to stay in top of the range places a lot, but I much prefer staying in a lovely, characterful place like this. Cheers Ian Porter (Courtwood Land,UK) Ps. What has happened to the portrait of the Queen?

20 January 1995: Such a beautiful spot, the people are so loving. We had a great time and wished we could stay longer. It feels like we're home from the minute we arrived. Joel Carroll and Marcia Lian (Oregon, USA)

13 September 1994: What a lovely, lovely place! So much history and kept in such good condition! We really enjoyed our stay and will come again for sure when we come back to Fiji. Vinaka Vakalevu. Stevie Smith (Vancover Canada)

10 July 1994: If you offer yourselves just one little luxury along your travels, then offer yourselves a room at the Royal Hotel Levuka (It was worth every cent for the hot shower alone!) This is it, Fiji magic at it's best- it's impossible to explain, but if you haven't felt the magic of Levuka then Fiji cannot possibly be the place for you. As for the Royal Hotel, I can only comment that i hope nothing ever changes. This place could not be more perfectly Fiji- an unfortunately short stay which i am unlikely to forget in a hurry. Thank you for having given me such a lovely room with a sea view and keeping it so clean. Gwilym Cox (UK)
